A Vintage Flower Box Wedding Cake with White Lily

Assalam all,

What a week last week was..everyday was THE day. Everything I did was slow, real slow. There were bakes, there were a gathering 'tying' the two families..and knowing my mom..there were endless dishes to prepare, and there were my Iman's concert day and also there were weddings to attend.

And my bad to not keeping this blog updated as it should be. It was much easier to update my bakes via FB and recently via instagram. The Iphone was such a real super tool to easily get connected..

There were bakes made last week which updated in the FB page, but the highlight would definitely be the wedding cake I made. I purposely decided to re-apply the same technique I did the previous one i learnt and here it is another version of a similar vintage box cake. Only, that i omitted the ribbon which supposed to be at the front. The white lily was requested from the bridegroom for the bride, for her favourite flower. Many happiness to Taufik & Laila!

I only did the wedding cake..while the cup cakes were baked by my sister. I must say, that the cupcakes indeed added classic and elegant look to the whole set up. We were happy for how it turned out. And I was surprised that my ivory colour almost matched the table drapes ;)

I haven't bake for us for some times and the kids kept on nagging to have this and that. We stopped for a dessert and bought blueberry cheese cake and strawberry shortcake, and they only ate a spoon each. "Not like your's mommy.." Ended, me and hubby had to stuffed ourselves..

Till then, take care and be happy with your loved ones!!

What a week that was..

I thought I wouldn't survive last week but Alhamdulillah that I did. If not, I wouldn't be writing this very post today ;)

I've always hate my self for being so hard to disappoint others. As a result, I have been baking till almost 4am for the entire last week. Yet, how sleepless you are, once you see those smiling faces receiving their cakes and bakes, I'd be so happy and eventually more energetic to bake more! When 'that' thing involves love and passion, nothing was impossible.

With all the bakes, yet I still manage to squeezed in to some open houses, weddings, meeting 'old' time friend. It was such precious time spent because you'll be talking endlessly to recall old good memories..something that could never be erased. Love you all my friends and we should catch up more often girls!

Half of bakes for the week. Some were with no photo taken :(

For next week I'll be away from home and only be taking few orders only. I am sorry to those I've declined to.

Take care all and again thank you for the continuous support & trust on my cakes and bakes ;)

Ramadan al-baraqah..

I've always planned but, due to circumstances everything changes and did not go as planned. I planned, yet He the Most Merciful decided. Especially in this month of Ramadan, everything seems so easy and perfectly seamless. Subhanallah and syukur.

I purposely announced early that no bakes during Ramadan as I feel I'd like to focus on family..nonetheless..request keeps coming in..my baby sleeps early now adays..once done completed my prayers..I was 'nothing' much to. One order accepted then, followed by another. Believe me, baking is very contagious. Once you've started, you'd be so eagerly to have more.

Thank you to all..again thank you!

Less-Sweet Cream Cheese Pound Cake

Simply for no apparent reasons, I was cravingggg for a lemony, not so sweet cake but soft in texture (no..i dont want a moist or spongy texture) cake. The cake you could dig in with zero guilt. And since Ramadan will be here in hours time and means no more munching, I quickly made this cake 830 am this morning. Not my normal baking time! My baby was looking pretty occupied watching Teletubbies and I managed to escaped my self to the kitchen. It just took me 20 minutes to prepare..weeeeheee..

I turned out so good that I whacked quarter of cake in 1 afternoon...totally blew, my calories count.. I only used 100g of sugar for this recipe.

Yes!! will again bake this for my self..not for orders though because probably I'd be getting this remarks.."what? cake without sugar? bread?"...

Original recipe was here
Kindly refer below recipe for modifications I've made to meet my taste :)

Less-Sweet Cream Chee
Ingredients;
- 195g all purpose flour {i used superfine flour}
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 150g unsalted butter, room temperature {I used SCS}
- 140g package cream cheese, room temperature {I used the great philly}
- 100g castor sugar
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Zest of a lemon and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

- Handful of dark chocolate chips to sprinkle on top

1. Preheat oven to 175°C and place rack in center of oven. Butter and line an 8-inch round cake tin.
2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
3. In the bowl of your electric mixer, or with a hand mixer, beat the butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add the sugar, in three additions, beating well after each addition. Continue beating on medium-high speed until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla and lemon zest & juice and beat until incorporated.
4. Add the flour mixture and mix just until incorporated. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. I sprinkled some chocolate chips just for fun. Baked for 50 mins or till cooked.

Happy trying!

Not just the month for us to fast, but to refrain ourselves for all the bad doings and focuses on good deeds. And please, do forgive me for the wrongs I said or blog..for unsatisfactory of service I made to all my lovely friends, customers and reader. Let us focus on our 'ibadah' this month Insyaallah.

At the same time, cant wait to bake my own cookies this year. Wait for the post!

This simple and delicious fruit cake ended my bakes for this week. We and my in laws were having a picnic in Lata Jarum, Raub Pahang and the fruit cake was a long 'said' item from my dear FIL.

Note* - mix all together

How to;

1. Placed mixed fruits and squeezed orange juice into a bowl and left set for 2 hours, longer is better.

4. Mix flour and fruit mixture alternately.
5. Bake in 8 inch pan for 1 hour @ 170 degree celcius or skewer came out clean.

Meeting the odds..

Syukur as always, I managed to pull things through though I thought I might not. Hubby was away to Germany for the entire week last week, and like always..all the unexpected happened only while he was away. He was not in, meaning me sailing alone, with the kids on tow.

Below are the bakes I promised longed before knowing hubby had to leave for the week. I was running kitchen-room-kitchen at night as my baby was having those nasty cough. Grrrr!!

And like always, once hubby was back today..everything seems calm..,my baby was recuperating..the boys are content with Babah in the house..and as I told him everything from A to Z..I felt like I was spicing things up :(

Anyhow..thank you all!!!

Too hard to be true..

Delivering a cake was something I feared most. And, what I feared might happened ..had actually happened..leaving me so sad and frustrated. The similar cake was delivered to once to Putrajaya & Kajang, and Syukur it was perfect. But, a cake I delivered to a housing area just across my house..collapsed, leaving me speechless!

I was driving super-slow as it was heavily raining, where I hit a small bump. Instead of pressing the break paddle slowly, I hit it hard (shocked, as didint see the small bump)..and there a shout from my boy who sat with the cake at the back.. "Ma...stop, kek jatuh..". I emotion shattered..WORDLESS.

Lucky the top tier (chocolate moist) was still acceptable, and re-assembled for Aida. The ruin bottom tier was 6 layers rainbow cake. :(

Aida & Rizal..I SORRY for what happened! Again so SORRY to ruin, Darwisy's special day!

Cuppies with similar theme.

I leave the rest of the bakes here..let the picture speaks :)

The Cars, Barbie & Safari theme birthday cakes..

End of school holiday, means ends of my luxury of relaxations. No more late morning wakes, no more 'tapau' food, no more iron-free day. Therefore, before I start on my ironing, I'd better update on the bakes for last week or else it will just be more delays.

Soft cotton durian cake. Made this for my parents, who love this cake so much. They sent me 10 packets of fresh peeled durian from our kampung. Where I only needed 150 gram of those king of fruit. Had another 8 packets of durians in the freezer for bubur during Ramadhan.!!

Red velvet cake with cream cheese. Thank you kak Keyra.

Moist chocolate cake with butter cream. Thank you kak Keyra. And I am so sorry that I missed an A to the name..It should be Amanna! I only realized it when I was editing the photo. Sorry!!!
